    Silver Care Essentials

The #1 rule: Put jewelry on last, take it off first

Apply perfume, lotion, sunscreen, and hairspray before putting on jewelry. These chemicals accelerate tarnishing and can damage plating. When undressing, remove jewelry first.

    Storage matters more than cleaning

Most tarnishing happens during storage, not wearing. Keep each piece in an individual anti-tarnish bag or a zip-lock bag with the air squeezed out. Silica gel packets help in humid climates.

    When to see a jeweler

If prongs are loose, stones are wobbly, clasps don't close properly, or the plating has worn through significantly — a professional can re-plate and repair at reasonable cost.
